Drama as Women Threaten to Strip if Gachagua Is Arrested
Drama is brewing ahead of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachaguaโs return to Kenya, after a section of Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) supporters warned they would strip in protest if he is arrested upon arrival from his US trip.
During a press briefing on Wednesday, August 20, DCP supporters from Embu vowed to resist what they termed as political intimidation against their leader.
Led by vocal party member Beth Kariuki, the group insisted Gachagua has every right to return home without harassment. Kariuki warned that any attempt to detain him at the airport would spark fierce resistance from his Embu supporters.
โGachagua is a Kenyan. He should not be arrested. If he is arrested, we women will protest by removing our clothes because we know the pain of raising children. You impeached him without reason and we kept quiet. This time, we shall not stay silent,โ one supporter said.
The group also urged Gachagua to visit Embu immediately after landing, calling his return a historic moment for the community and his political base across the country.

โGachagua, we want you in Embu first once you land. Come and speak to us,โ the supporters added.
According to the Embu branch, the former DP is expected to tour the county and campaign for the DCP candidate in the upcoming Mbeere North by-election.
John Arimi, a 2027 Embu senatorial aspirant under DCP, echoed Kariukiโs remarks and welcomed Gachagua back. He also demanded investigations into claims that some leaders were bribed to support Gachaguaโs impeachment.
Another supporter, Jasmel Gechini, called on the government to respect opposition voices instead of persecuting them, while Thoithi emphasized that freedom of speech and association remain the backbone of democracy.
Rigathi Gachagua is expected to land in Kenya on Thursday, August 21, after spending nearly two months in the US pushing his political agenda. His return comes amid calls by Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen and other leaders for his arrest over statements he made abroad.
