Drama as Murkomen’s Lawyer is Thrown Out of Court for Interrupting Hearing

City lawyer Danstan Omari has been removed from the High Court amid the ongoing abduction case.

Omari, who is representing acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, was ejected from court for contempt.

Justice Bahati Mwamuye ordered Omari to leave the courtroom to interrupt the proceedings. โ€œPlease obey the court,โ€ Justice Mwamuye told Omari. He added, โ€œI have been assured that your party is represented by someone else, so there will be no prejudice.โ€

In his plea to the judge, Omari stated, โ€œThe court has struck me from representing my client.โ€

But before he could finish his remarks, Justice Mwamuye interrupted, stating, โ€œI have not struck you from representing your client. I have asked you to leave for todayโ€™s hearing.โ€

Omari represented CS Murkomen, who was named as a respondent in the petition filed by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

Murkomen, who was not present in court, has denied any involvement in the alleged abductions.

The former Transport CS later requested the court to remove his name from the petition that implicated him and other senior government officials.

Earlier today, Justice Mwamuye summoned Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja regarding allegations that linked him to the recent abductions. The judge instructed the police chief to appear in court to clarify how these mysterious abductions occurred without police intervention.

The court has also ordered the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to provide information about the vehicles that were reportedly involved in the abductions. NTSA Director-General George Njao is required to present these vehicle details before the next court hearing.

โ€œState officers have an obligation, according to the oath of office and the constitution. This court will not hesitate next week if these people are not brought before the court,โ€ the judge said.

โ€œIf the six gentlemen are found, I am on duty every day; nothing prevents the respondents from producing them to this High Court or any other High Court in the country,โ€ Judge Mwamuye added.

Judge Mwamuye’s ruling follows the recent discovery of five out of the six abductees, who were found alive and left in various locations by unidentified individuals. The individuals included Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, Ronny Kiplagat, and Kibet Bull.
