Donald Trump Accused of Rape in Newly Released Epstein Files; DOJ Calls Claims ‘Untrue and Sensationalist’

In a major move that has captured international attention, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has released nearly 30,000 additional pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender. This represents the largest disclosure in the long-running investigation into Epstein, whose ties to powerful figures worldwide have long fueled public fascination.

The newly released documents include multiple references to former US President Donald Trump, notably showing that Trump flew on Epsteinโ€™s private jet several times during the 1990s. An internal email from a DOJ prosecutor lists at least eight flights Trump took on Epsteinโ€™s jet between 1993 and 1996. While these records reveal the extent of Trumpโ€™s association with Epstein, experts note that travel logs and social connections alone do not constitute evidence of criminal activity.

The DOJ emphasized that some of the documents contain โ€œuntrue and sensationalist claimsโ€ about Trump that were submitted to the FBI shortly before the 2020 election. The department described these allegations as lacking any credible basis. โ€œTo be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponised against President Trump already,โ€ the DOJ said. Nevertheless, the records were released in the interest of transparency, with measures in place to protect Epsteinโ€™s victims.

Among the files is an FBI intake report from October 27, 2020, detailing a tip from a former limousine driver. The report recounts a disturbing phone conversation allegedly involving Trump and Epstein in 1995. According to the document, a woman who reportedly contacted police about the incident was later found dead in January 2000 by suicide. Authorities have heavily redacted these details and made no determinations about their accuracy.

Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing connected to Epstein, calling recent scrutiny a Democratic โ€œdistractionโ€ and stating that he โ€œcut tiesโ€ with Epstein long before the pedophileโ€™s arrest in 2019.

The disclosure has reignited debates over government transparency, particularly as Democrats pressure the DOJ to release more files. Advocates of open records argue that the public has a right to see these documents, even if they contain unverified claims. The release follows criticism of a previous batch of Epstein files, which were temporarily removed from the DOJ website over concerns about protecting victimsโ€™ identities, before being restored after confirming no victims were shown in the disputed materials.

The massive trove of documents is now publicly accessible on the DOJ website, providing a rare window into Epsteinโ€™s network and the enduring global fascination with one of the most infamous criminal cases of recent decades.
