Deputy IG Shakes Up Police Top Brass, Appoints New GSU Deputy Chief

Kenya Police Service Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat has authorized significant restructuring within the force.

Jonathan Murray, Commanding Officer at the National Police College (NPC) Embakasi Campus, circulated an internal memo to all faculties, sections, and the Magadi Field Campus, detailing the recent changes.

Richard Disii Rotich, formerly the deputy regional police commander for Rift Valley, has been appointed as the new Deputy General Service Unit (GSU) Commander, while Edward Kipsang Changach has transitioned from a supervisory role to become the County Police Commander (CPC) for Lamu County.

In additional shifts, William Samoei Kibiwott has been reassigned from CPC Lamu County to Commanding Officer of Embakasi B Campus, with Titus Nzioka Mutune now serving as the Deputy Commanding Officer at Embakasi B Campus. Judy Mutinda LKalondu will take on the role of Staff Officer Personnel at the Kenya Airports Police Unit.

Joshua Kasoka has been appointed Commanding Officer at headquarters, William Sawe has taken over as Head of Operations at the GSU, and Nickson Auka will serve at the police headquarters.

Judy Gichumba has been named the Officer in Charge of Leadership and Management Faculty at B Campus, while Bernard Mbatha will assume the position of Deputy Director of Operations at police headquarters.

Charles Chesir is now in charge of transport at GSU, Mwanadoyo Mayaa leads the Gender and Welfare department at GSU, and David Kigai has been appointed Deputy Commander at headquarters.

Cleti Kimaiyo, previously the Siaya County Police Commander, has been reassigned as the Deputy Head of GSU’s Recce unit.

James Mamir will oversee training, and Vitalis Adawa has been transferred to the headquarters. Philomen Leshoo has been appointed as the Sub-County Commander for Rachuonyo.

This reshuffle represents Lagat’s first major personnel change since his swearing-in late last month.
