The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has released images of suspects believed to be responsible for the disorder and violence witnessed on Monday during anti-government protests led by the Azimio opposition coalition, and a manhunt is currently underway.

Friday, the DCI’s social media account published a series of images revealing the identities of individuals it identifies as criminals who took advantage of the protests to damage property and attack innocent members of the public and on-duty police officers.

According to the DCI, during the Monday protests led by the Azimio party leader Raila Odinga, property of unknown value was destroyed and a total of 33 officers sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently hospitalized.

“Criminals who took advantage of the demonstrations were caught on camera destroying public property, assaulting innocent members of the public, and throwing projectiles at police officers who were on duty protecting life and property.

“As a result, property of unknown value was destroyed, and 33 officers sustained injuries of varying degrees; some are still recovering in various city hospitals,” the DCI said.
