DCI Sends Jeff Mwathi’s File to DPP Following His Death: DETAILS
Wednesday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) forwarded the file on the investigations into the death of Jeffrey Mwathi to the DPP’s office.
The conclusion of investigations means that the DPP is now responsible for deciding whether to review, prosecute, or not prosecute.
However, what exactly is in the file that the detectives gave to the prosecutor?
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the death of the late Jeff Mwathi remains inconclusive, with suicide as the most likely cause, as none of the suspects whose statements were recorded can be tied to the death.
Detectives who have been working nonstop since Mwathi’s death at the home of Benga singer DJ Fatxo say there is no forensic evidence to suggest the interior designer was murdered.
Six individuals returned to DJ Fatxo’s apartment on Thika Road after a night of partying on Kiambu Road, according to investigators who have reconstructed the events leading up to Mwathi’s death.
According to detectives, six people, including the DJ, his driver, two women, Mwathi, and another man, continued the celebration at the DJ’s Redwood apartment.

According to the file, Mwathi eventually became intoxicated at his apartment and began vomiting.
He was led to a nearby room to recover from the alcohol’s effects, while the party continued in the adjacent sitting room.
During the investigation into a mysterious death that has captured the nation’s attention, detectives discovered that one of the women, who was unfamiliar with the DJ and his friends, expressed a desire to leave.
The detectives relied on CCTV footage as part of their evidence, which showed the DJ and the two women leaving the apartment shortly thereafter.
In the meantime, the two gentlemen who remained at the residence continued the festivities.
The detectives reportedly left the house shortly thereafter and went to the parking lot to determine if the DJ had returned and passed out in his vehicle.
After a night out, it was not uncommon for the DJ to return home and pass out in his car, detectives learned during their investigation.
According to detectives, the two men were still in the elevator on their way to the parking lot when surveillance footage captured Jeff Mwathi’s body falling from the apartment building’s tenth floor.
It was therefore impossible to establish a forensic connection between them and Mwathi’s death.

Detectives also doubt Mwathi fell through DJ Fatxo’s small window.
Detectives think Mwathi jumped from the window, which would explain why his pants were at the knee. His last contact with the window was at the waist.
The evidence gathered during the investigation revealed that the two men returned to the residence after examining the parking lot.
Detectives searched Mwathi’s room after he didn’t wake up.
CCTV captured the DJ returning home after dropping off the two women. On camera, he was seen speaking with a neighbor before covering his eyes and entering his apartment.
He told the two men that he had heard a person had fallen off the building, but he was afraid of dead bodies and death.
