A recent development has come to light through the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) regarding a method employed by kidnappers who specifically target young males.
A statement issued on Thursday, subsequent to the apprehension of two alleged kidnappers in Kitengela, revealed that the abductors entice men on dates with attractive women in order to obtain their own protection.
In reference to the October 27 kidnappings, the investigative agency disclosed that a woman who collaborated with the captors registered a phone line using a stolen identification card.
Later, she scheduled a date with two university students at a common entertainment establishment in Nairobi after approaching them.
However, upon the arrival of the two 21-year-old young men for the date, they were abducted by two assailants who escorted them to an undisclosed location in Kitengela.
According to police, the kidnappers also leased a residence through Airbnb, which they utilized as the location of the abduction.
The abductors then called the parents and demanded Ksh6 million in ransom in order to facilitate the release of the students, as reported by the DCI.
