DCI Rescue Woman While Heading To JKIA

After the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) rescued her from an abandoned house, a family in Nairobi was reunited with their relative.

In a statement released on Thursday, the agency indicated that it conducted an intensive search for the missing woman after receiving a complaint of her disappearance.

On the way to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the victim was apparently picked up by individuals who identified themselves as police officers.

DCI detectives at a training session and a car used in abduction of the woman.

“The victim was heading to JKIA from Eastleigh when the taxi she was traveling in was stopped by a driver of another vehicle that was trailing them and upon stopping, two occupants from the said vehicle while posing as police officers ordered the victim to board their vehicle and head to Shauri Moyo Police Station for interrogation leaving the taxi driver at the scene,” read the statement in part.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the said individuals were not police officers and the victim had not been booked at any police station within Nairobi region.”

Friday, the taxi driver lodged a report of a missing person at the Industrial Area Police Station, according to the officers.

Investigations led a team of DCI detectives from the regional headquarters in Nairobi, DCI Makadara, DCI Imenti North, and DCI Igembe Central, to the hamlet of Maua, where they were able to apprehend the prime suspect.

“Upon intense interrogation, the suspect led the detectives to an abandoned residential house at Kachiongo within the outskirts of Maua town where the victim was rescued and a motor vehicle suspected to have been used during the abduction recovered,” added the statement.

After being rescued, the victim was transported to a hospital for evaluation, while efforts to locate the remaining suspects continued.

The incident occurred one month after the DCI launched a manhunt for suspected kidnappers who abducted a third-grade student from a school in Donholm, Nairobi County.

The agency revealed that the suspects are instructors from the school who are suspected of kidnapping the student in the evening following classes.

“A team of detectives drawn from the Nairobi Region Command in collaboration with colleagues from DCI Buruburu launched a thorough operation in the Kayole Sabasaba area, leading to the rescue of the minor who had been locked in a room believed to have been rented by another teacher, who works in the same school with the main suspect,” read the statement at the time.

Uncertainty remains as to whether the minor was located.
