On Christmas day, a passionate cyclist from Kenya embraced the challenging feat of biking from Kisii to Nairobi, aiming to showcase their resilience and determination.

The renowned cyclist, Siro Fits, revealed his adventure to the Kenyan audience on the internet, aiming to illustrate the extensive efforts he exerted to accomplish this remarkable feat. He particularly emphasized its significance, considering his multiple previous attempts that failed.

“Cycling from Kisii to Nairobi in a day to me is mental empowerment that comes from defying gravity, traffic, the sun, winds, and personal comfort,” he remarked in a statement.

As per his schedule, the cyclist commenced his trip approximately at 4 am on Christmas Day, and after covering a distance of 310 kilometers, he arrived in Nairobi just a few minutes after midnight.

His journey received accolades from other cyclists who admired his dedication and persistence, recognizing the challenge he faced.

“I respect your discipline, I’d honestly take a detour, 30 minutes before leaving the town for some refreshments, just to reassess my commitments in life then postpone that trip,” one stated.

The cyclist cautioned fellow riders about attempting the same journey without adequate support or sufficient preparation, emphasizing that embarking on such a trip demands significant mental fortitude.

While traveling, he paused at Bomet, Narok, and Mai Mahiu to grab some refreshments and refuel his energy, ensuring he stayed in top physical shape for the entire journey.

The cyclist highlighted that among the primary difficulties encountered on his trip, maneuvering through steep landscapes, especially along the path from Kericho to the Rift Valley, stood out. This particular segment demanded ascending about 30 kilometers of challenging terrain.

“The 30-kilometer from Narok to Ntulele became a relentless series of ups and downs, with headwinds eagerly sapping my dwindling energy after each climb,” he shared.

While biking along the steep slopes, he followed trucks closely to stay safe and reduce wind resistance, especially when climbing uphill.

His commitment to embarking on long cycling or walking journeys isn’t uncommon, as more and more people are taking on this challenge, putting their endurance to the test.

At the beginning of December, Cynthia Nyamai, a well-known media figure, began a 14-day trek from Mombasa to Nairobi, covering a distance of 488 kilometers. Her goal was to raise funds for the Kibra Charity Walk.

In October, a French content creator on YouTube traveled more than 9,500 kilometers, biking from France to Kenya, taking a two-year journey due to various stops made throughout the trip.
