Culcheth Linear Park Stabbing: 15-Year-Olds Arrested for Murder

Two teens have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the stabbing death of a 16-year-old girl in a park.

Brianna Ghey was tragically discovered dead yesterday at Linear Park in Culcheth, Warrington.

The police received reports that the adolescent had been discovered with severe injuries and rushed to the popular park around 3 p.m.

Brianna, from the Warrington neighborhood of Birchwood, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Police immediately opened a murder investigation into what they termed a “targeted attack.”

They confirmed tonight that two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of murder.

They reported that the 15-year-old boy and girl remained in custody.

Cheshire Police issued the following statement: “Detectives have arrested two teenagers in connection with the death of 16-year-old Brianna Ghey in Warrington.”

“Yesterday at 3.13 p.m., members of the public called 911 after discovering Brianna’s body on a path in Linear Park in Culcheth, where she was subsequently pronounced dead.

“A 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, both from the local area, have been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of ongoing investigations.

They are currently detained and assisting the police investigation.

Previously, Detective Chief Superintendent Mike Evans of the Cheshire Police described the incident as a “targeted attack” on Brianna during a “busy day” at the park.

He added, “This is a truly heinous assault on a 16-year-old girl, who tragically lost her brief life.”

Yesterday from approximately 1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., the police wanted to speak with anyone who was in the park.

Additionally, he requested information from anyone who may have seen Brianna in the hours preceding her death.

The police also urged community members and businesses to come forward with any information they may have and to review CCTV or dashcam footage.
