CS Nominee Aden Duale Breaks Silence After Ruto’s Announcement

Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale praised President William Ruto on Friday for nominating him as the new Defence Minister.

On his X account, Duale expressed that this nomination highlights the President’s and Kenyans’ strong trust and confidence in his capability to advance the nation’s objectives.

The former CS affirmed his readiness to embrace his new role in enhancing Kenya’s national security and contributing to the country’s prosperity.

Duale also showed confidence in the vetting process by the National Assembly’s committee.

“I am prepared and eager to appear before the National Assembly’s relevant committee for vetting and public scrutiny. Quran (2:152): ‘So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me,'” Duale stated.

He further expressed his heartfelt thanks to President William Ruto for nominating him as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Defence.

Duale’s remarks came shortly after President Ruto revealed the nomination of 11 individuals for vetting as cabinet secretaries.

In a press briefing, Ruto mentioned that these nominations followed extensive consultations with his allies in both the government and the opposition.

The nominees included Kithure Kindiki as Interior CS, Alice Wahome (Lands), Aden Duale (Defence), and Soipan Tuya (Environment).

Other nominees were Davis Chirchir for Roads and Transport, Rebecca Miano (Attorney General), Debra Mlongo Barasa (Health), Julius Migos Ogamba (Education), Andrew Mwihia Karanja (Agriculture), Eric Muriithi Muuga (Water), and Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u (ICT).
