CS Muturi Urged to Step Down After Blasting Ruto’s Gov’t
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has urged Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi to step down if he believes the government is not adhering to the rule of law.
Speaking on Sunday, January 12, Amisi emphasized that Muturi, having held several prominent roles in government, has little to lose and should now focus on championing justice and good governance.
Amisi noted that Muturi’s extensive career, which includes serving as a senior magistrate, Member of Parliament, Speaker of the National Assembly for a decade, Attorney General, and now a Cabinet Secretary, places him in a unique position to act boldly.
According to Amisi, resigning would be a powerful way for Muturi to make a meaningful impact, rather than merely holding press conferences, which he labeled as ineffective and timid.

In his statement, Amisi said, “My friend Justin Muturi, you have experienced it all. Resigning from a government you believe undermines social justice and the rule of law would be your greatest contribution to a better Kenya. Actions speak louder than words, and press briefings are for the faint-hearted.”
These comments come after Muturi publicly criticized the government’s handling of issues such as abductions and extrajudicial killings.
The CS expressed disappointment in President William Ruto’s administration, stating that it has not fulfilled many campaign promises. Muturi revealed that he joined the coalition believing in its ideals of justice and fairness but now feels betrayed by the government’s actions.
Muturi remarked, “During the campaigns, we promised to uphold justice and ensure that disappearances and extrajudicial killings would never happen under our watch. Unfortunately, such incidents are occurring again, with cases of abductions and unexplained deaths.” His reflections highlight growing dissatisfaction within the administration regarding its commitment to human rights and governance principles.
