CS Kuria’s Game-Changing Strategy to Expose Corrupt Officials!

Thursday, Moses Kuria, cabinet secretary for public service, declared that the ministry will begin publishing the identities of corrupt individuals in January 2024.

Ahead of the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC) Huduma Ombudsman Awards. Kuria disclosed that his strategy will dissuade Kenyan citizens from offering bribes to government officials.

According to Kuria, he will hold a monthly press conference to divulge the identities of civil servants who have been accused of corruption.

“We will tell you, this officer asked for this amount. This police station is corrupt and so much more,” he warned.

Government institutions, county governments, and law enforcement agencies, such as the National Police Service and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), will be subject to the exposé.

According to his argument, a subset of Kenyans had been driven to despair by corrupt government officials. To the point where some were contemplating suicide. He reaffirmed that his primary objective is to facilitate universal access to government services for all Kenyans.

“We will have to name and shame people who are denying Kenyans justice through delayed service, misuse of power, and other forms,” he remarked.

Nevertheless, he exhorted Kenyans to report all instances of corruption. They should do this via the numerous online platforms at their disposal to eradicate the vice.

However, the CS refrained from divulging the commencement date of name publication. Or specifying whether this was an internal policy or one that had been approved by the Cabinet.

“Even if we will not do anything about it, every month we will have a non-failing ritual of naming and shaming,” he added.

Before disseminating the names, the CS promised to consult with the office of the Ombudsman. Inorder to guarantee that the list is effective and suitable.

Kuria, former Member of Parliament for Gatundu South. Declared intentions in October of this year to establish a call center. Through which Kenyan citizens can lodge complaints regarding the failure of government employees to provide services by legal obligations.

“I am going to have a big office and call center. To analyze those complaints and it will be here at NYS. I will come here every morning to see where there are complaints. The servicemen will monitor it,” Kuria stated after unveiling the NYS Re-engineering program at the NYS headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi County.
