CS Public Service Meru County legislators have criticized Moses Kuria for his support of the impeached governor, Kawira Mwangaza.

The six members of the Meru Caucus Group accused Kuria of interfering in county affairs and demanded that President William Ruto dismiss him.

Thursday at a news conference in Parliament Buildings, the group accused the Cabinet Secretary of focusing on politics rather than his duties.

“We are telling his excellency the President that the time has come for him to relieve Kuria of his job as a cabinet secretary to allow him to go back and play politics,” Buuri MP Rindiki Mugambi said.

Mpuru Aburu (Tigania East), Rahim Dawood (North Imenti), John Paul Mwirigi (Igembe South), and Julias Taitumu (Igembe North) were also members of parliament.

Wednesday, Meru MCAs impeached Kawira for the second time in less than a year based on allegations of flagrant constitutional violation and misconduct.

Soon after the vote, the cabinet secretary moved to support Kawira, whom he claimed was thwarted by power-hungry individuals.

“I stand with Governor Kawira Mwangaza. This is an evil scheme by someone who thinks that the only way to be a Mt Kenya Kingpin is to bring down other leaders not to solve the problems of our people who are getting desperate by the day. History will vindicate me,” he said.

Anne Waiguru, the chairperson of the Council of Governors, echoed these sentiments when she expressed her support for the beleaguered county administrator.

Waiguru urged the governor to maintain his resolve before the senate hearing.

“Asiye kuwa na wake ana Mungu. I stand with you my sister Kawira Mwangaza. It’s darkest before dawn. Look to the Hills from where your help comes from. There is God in Heaven,” posted Waiguru, who also doubles as Kirinyaga governor.

But the lawmakers attacked Kuria, accusing him of making irresponsible statements unbecoming of his position as cabinet secretary.
