CS Kindiki: Gov’t Probing Marsabit Political and Religious Leaders in Killings
Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary (CS) of the Interior, has announced that the State is investigating several political and religious leaders who are believed to be stoking ethnic tensions in Marsabit County for personal gain.
Wednesday, while meeting with the county’s security and intelligence team in Marsabit, CS Kindiki stated that there has been an increase in the number of ethnic conflicts in the region, which have resulted in the loss of life and widespread property destruction.

“Over the past few weeks, there have been incidents of livestock theft. The CS warned all leaders who have profited financially and politically from inter-communal tensions that they are under investigation.
“We will investigate the recent murders in Marsabit County with impartiality. Current and former political leaders in Marsabit County, as well as religious and community leaders, are on our radar.
If any leader is found responsible for aggravating ethnic tensions in the region. The Interior Minister said, they will be prosecuted according to the law.
