Court Ruling Deals Blow to Pastor Ezekiel’s Bank Accounts & TV Station
The New Life International Church Pastor suffered another legal setback on Monday, May 15, when the Mombasa High Court refused to unfreeze his sixteen bank accounts under investigation.
In her decision, High Court Judge Olga Sewe stated that Pastor Ezekiel’s applications were misconceived; thus, she refrained from commenting on the correctness and legality of the orders issued by the Milimani Magistrate Court in Nairobi.
Simultaneously, Judge Sewe denied Pastor Ezekiel’s request to have his television station restored to operation.
Judge Sewe advised Pastor Ezekiel and his attorneys to exhaust all legal options with Communication Authority before filing a lawsuit.
Pastor Ezekiel petitioned the Mombasa High Court on May 3 for conservatory orders to prevent the government from freezing more than 15 personal and church bank accounts.
In response to Pastor Ezekiel’s petition, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) opposed the reopening of the New Life International Pastor’s bank accounts on May 11, 2023.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Virgina Kariuki told the court that unfreezing the accounts would compromise the investigation. Into the pastor’s alleged money laundering activities.
While appearing before Milimani Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) stated that investigators were making significant progress. After reviewing his mobile money lines and bank accounts.
At the time, the ODPP asserted that they were unaware of Pastor Ezekiel’s filing with the Mombasa High Court.
“We are interested in the origin of the funds. Consequently, we are present. The judge indicated that a decision will be rendered on Monday. We were unaware that they had relocated to Shanzu court,” stated Virginia.
This occurred after Pastor Ezekiel’s attorneys, Danstan Omari, Sam Nyaberi, and Cliff Ombeta. Protested the DPP’s application, which was made without regard to a pending case before the Mombasa High Court.
Omari informed the court that the current freeze orders had halted the operations of the New Life Church. And Kilifi International School, which provided for more than a thousand children.
