Corruption Crackdown: Roysambu Assistant County Commissioner and Agent Nabbed in Ksh.50K Bribery Sting
Roysambu Assistant County Commissioner Mercy Kavoi and her agent David Musyoki were arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Ksh 50,000 from a resident of the Mathare slum.
Two individuals were escorted to the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station, where they were interrogated and recorded statements.
Kavoi was released on bail pending a recommendation of appropriate charges to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), while Musyoki was escorted to Kilimani Police Station for failure to pay bail.
Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested Kavoi on Wednesday after she allegedly demanded the amount to return construction materials she confiscated after demolishing a resident’s home for allegedly being built illegally on a road reserve.
She reportedly removed all the construction materials from her office, including the iron sheets and window frames.
GossipA2Z believes anti-corruption commission detectives set a trap to catch the assistant commissioner in the act in response to a June 9 complaint.

A source with knowledge of the situation told GossipA2Z that Commissioner Kavoi agreed to halve the amount demanded following the complainant’s pleading.
Reportedly, it was agreed that the money would be delivered by her agent, Musyoki.
Unbeknownst to the suspects, officers were following the progress of the transaction and arrested the agent during the transaction.
Unexpectedly, the agent is said to have fled into the Mathare slum as soon as he realized that detectives were on his trail, vanishing into the slum without a trace.
Unfortunately for him, the detectives who pursued him were able to schedule his date with destiny, but not before he threw the bribe money to the spectators who had gathered to watch the unfolding drama.
