Chaos Unleashed at Nyandarua’s Jamhuri Day Bash as Furious Crowd Boo’s Ruto’s Speech
Residents of Nyandarua County created a stir just before President William Ruto’s speech was set to be read during the 61st Jamhuri Day celebrations.
The incident occurred at Engineer Stadium when Nyandarua County Commissioner Mohamed Barre stepped up to deliver Ruto’s speech.
Initially calm, the crowd erupted in protest, raising their voices and gesturing by standing up and throwing their hands in the air.
Despite the county commissioner’s attempts to read the speech, the booing intensified, making it impossible for him to proceed.
Some individuals in the audience approached the podium, shouting and effectively overpowering Barre’s voice.

The National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) quickly intervened to protect the county commissioner as he struggled to deliver the President’s address.
Frustrated by the county commissioner’s insistence on reading Ruto’s speech, the attendees staged a mass walkout, chanting anti-government slogans and milling around the venue.

The chaotic scene prompted the commissioner to halt the speech midway. This is not the first time a government official has faced such a hostile reception during Ruto’s speech.
On Sunday, October 20, residents of Juja interrupted the delivery of President Ruto’s Mashujaa Day speech by the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) of the sub-county.
Mirroring the actions of Nyandarua residents, the crowd, consisting of people of all ages, jeered and blocked the delivery of the Head of State’s speech.
Their protests escalated into chants of “Ruto Must Go,” drowning out the Deputy County Commissioner’s efforts to quell the disturbance with a public address system.
The most recent senior government official to face such opposition was Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, who was interrupted at the Korom Festival in Eldoret on December 7.
The crowd at the event jeered at Murkomen, preventing him from delivering his speech during the celebration of music and arts. His address lasted less than a minute, and in the face of continued protests, Murkomen was forced to leave the stage to avoid further humiliation.
