Chaos in Kakamega: Youths Burn Assassin’s Home, Police Fire 72 Rounds at Mourners
Kakamega County experienced chaos when a funeral transformed into a crime scene after mourners decided to take justice into their own hands regarding the victim’s death.
As per a police report accessed by Gossipa2z.com, 1,000 mourners were heading to the funeral in Muranda with the body of Kizito Namanga.
The report indicates that Namanga was killed by attackers on April 17, 2024.
Several weeks later, the youth were upset because the police had not yet caught the assailants, and there were no updates on the investigation.
On the funeral day, the mourners mobilized themselves and went to the home of a suspect believed to have hired the assailants.
Over 20 police officers patrolling the area rushed to the scene to pacify the crowd, but their efforts were fruitless.

Shortly after, the youth overpowered the police and attacked the suspect’s home, setting it on fire in retaliation when they couldn’t find the suspect inside.
To control the situation, the officers fired 72 rounds to disperse the crowd, but it had no effect.
Unaffected by the gunfire, the youth turned on the officers, forcing them to flee to save themselves.
According to the report, 17 police officers suffered serious injuries, including bruises to the head, limbs, muscles, and tissues.
Reinforcements from the Prisons and neighboring sub-county officers were sent in to restore order.
“The officers patrolled the area and the body was transported to the deceased’s home,” part of the report stated.
