Chaos and Drama as Pastor Clashes With Gachagua Allies, Storms Out of Funeral in Kirinyaga: “Go away, leave”
A dramatic scene unfolded on Tuesday during a funeral in Kirinyaga, attended by politicians and leaders supporting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Tensions rose when a pastor refused to let the leaders address the gathering.
As the disagreement escalated, the pastor was eventually forced to leave, unable to control the rising tempers. The situation got worse when Kirinyaga Women Representative Njeri Maina, along with other leaders like area Senator Kamau Murango, marched to the stage, demanding the right to speak.
Despite the pressure, the pastor stood firm, insisting that he would not allow them to address the mourners. The crowd became restless and started chanting, urging him to give the politicians a chance.
“You must respect our leaders and allow them to speak,” some mourners shouted as they moved towards the main stage where the pastor stood.

Eventually, the pastor had no choice but to leave as the mourners continued shouting at him for his decision. Some followed him while others recorded videos of the preacher, who appeared visibly upset.
“Go away, leave!” some women shouted in Kikuyu as they walked alongside him. The pastor, however, did not retaliate and simply entered his car.
Later, when asked by journalists why he had denied the politicians a chance to speak, the pastor explained that he had initially allowed them to talk, but they turned the occasion into a political platform.
“This is a funeral, not a political meeting. We have no issues with them. We respected them and even gave them a chance to speak,” the pastor stated.
“Instead of comforting the grieving family, they started engaging in political arguments. That was not appropriate, and it should not happen at such events,” he added.
He also denied allegations that he was acting on behalf of the government to silence leaders affiliated with the former Deputy President.
