Brian Mwenda’s Father Defends Son, Says He Graduated From Kenya School of Law
Arnold Njagi, the father of Brian Mwenda, who was accused of impersonating a lawyer by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), has defended his son’s academic credentials, stating that he is a qualified attorney, contrary to rumors.
The Law Society of Kenya accused Mwenda of impersonating an attorney and defrauding victims without the necessary qualifications.
Monday, Njagi spoke to the press about Mwenda’s voyage from primary school to university, explaining that he pursued a criminology diploma course in 2016 that allowed him to enroll at Strathmore University the following year.
According to Njagi, his son matriculated in 2020 and enrolled in the Kenya School of Law. Two years later, he was admitted to the bar and began practicing law from that location.
“He pursued a diploma course in criminology which enabled him to join Strathmore University in 2017 and graduate in 2020. In 2021, he joined the Kenya School of Law and completed in December 2022,” he noted.
“His first case was representing a family member in court. He made an application for appeal but unfortunately, there was no response to his application. So, he has been working in Nairobi until recently when he told me that some people were claiming that he is not a qualified lawyer.”

In addition, Njagi questioned why LSK accused his son of posing as an attorney despite enrolling with the organization.
“Our son has learned since we have been doing follow-up when he was in school, and we held several fundraisers for his school fees until he was done,” he added.
“Therefore we are shocked by the news that Brian has been operating as a quack representing his clients in courts.”
The father of Mwenda expressed confidence that justice would prevail as he awaited the court’s decision regarding his son.
LSK explained in a statement released on Saturday that they had asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the matter.
LSK accused Mwenda of seizing complete control of a legitimate attorney’s account and practicing law in disguise.
As a result of the revelation, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) requested that Inspector General Japhet Koome submit Mwenda’s file following the conclusion of all investigations to decide whether or not to prosecute him.
