Breaking: Politician’s Mysterious Death Unraveled

On the morning of Tuesday, July 18, former Tharaka Nithi gubernatorial candidate Felix Gitari was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head. New details have emerged regarding his death.

The deceased’s sibling reported that the politician’s phone went dead shortly after he left home to attend to personal and business matters in Embu County that he did not disclose to his family.

Before receiving a report from the police, the family desperately attempted to reach him by phone but was unsuccessful. They had contacted the police earlier to report the former candidate’s disappearance.

Detectives from the Ishiara Police Station have launched an investigation to determine the nature of the politician’s final transaction.

The family positively identified the deceased after police contacted them about a body discovered in a vehicle parked near Kanyuambora market the morning after Gitari departed home.

Eric Yego, commander of the Mbeere North sub-county police, told the press that the police were notified after residents of Kanyuambora spotted a vehicle parked on the side of the road for hours.

The majority of Gitari’s personal belongings were intact, and his body was discovered in the driver’s seat with eight rounds of ammunition close to his chest.

The projectile entered through the victim’s right ear and exited through his left eye, according to the police.

Yego reported that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and he suspected that it may have been connected to the activities he planned to conduct in Embu.

Gitari ran for governor of Tharaka Nithi County on the Chama cha Kazi ticket in August 2022.

However, he succumbed to second-term governor Muthomi Njuki of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), who received 97,151 votes and won the election.

Gitari, who finished fifth with 1,461 ballots, was a regional businessman.
