Musa Imamai, the police chief of Bomet Central, affirmed the occurrence, stating that the motorcycle taxi rider was responsible for the incident.
He mentioned that the person on the motorcycle heading towards Bomet reversed direction and collided with the Governor’s vehicle.
“The pillion passenger was injured while the boda boda rider escaped immediately after the accident and is being sought by the police to record a statement,” Mr Imamai said.
However, the male passenger reported to have sustained injuries received treatment and was released from Longisa County Referral Hospital, where he was promptly taken by compassionate individuals.
He mentioned that the Governor, along with his driver and a police aide, emerged unharmed from the accident. The incident drew attention as pedestrians and motorists recognized him, causing a crowd to gather.
The Governor’s navy blue Prado, which sustained damage to its front left side, was towed to the Bomet police station. It remained in the parking lot for several hours before being released.
There was a commotion as the vehicle exited the police station, with county officers trying to prevent journalists from snapping photos.
