BLOODY BATTLE FOR MT KENYA! Ruto Scrambles to Reclaim Betrayed Region as Gachagua Declares All-Out WAR
President William Ruto is making big moves to win back the Mt Kenya region, which strongly supported him in the last election but has recently grown restless.
The President is planning a one-week development tour of the Mt Kenya region starting next week. This visit comes as Ruto tries to calm tensions and regain political control after facing resistance from local leaders and residents.
Key Changes in Government
On Wednesday, President Ruto fired Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, who had openly disagreed with him. However, in a smart political move, Ruto replaced Muturi with Geoffrey Ruku, an MP from Muturiโs party and home area in Embu. This shows the President is carefully trying to keep the region happy without causing more conflict.
Ruto also avoided firing other top government officials from Mt Kenya, even after his public fallout with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Instead, he created seven new State Departments to bring in more allies, including supporters of opposition leader Raila Odinga. This increased the number of Principal Secretaries to a record high, even though the country is facing tough economic times.
Gachagua Leads Mt Kenya Revolt
Deputy President Gachagua has become a strong critic of Ruto in the region. He has openly declared that Mt Kenya people no longer support the President and promised to remove Ruto from power in the next election.
Gachagua is working on forming a new political alliance. He plans to join forces with other key leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Martha Karua. His goal is to challenge Ruto in the 2027 elections.
Development Tour and Political Talks
Ahead of his Mt Kenya tour, President Ruto has been meeting local leaders, governors, and MPs in private talks. These meetings have focused on development projects that have stalled in the region. Local leaders asked the President to speed up these projects to improve roads, schools, and other services.
State House said the meetings are part of the Presidentโs plan to boost development and ensure the needs of Mt Kenya residents are met.
