Beatrice Elachi Reveals Details on How Her Son Died
Nairobi, Kenya โ March 29, 2025 โ Dagoretti North Member of Parliament (MP) Beatrice Elachi is mourning the death of her son, Elvis Murakana, who passed away after being involved in a tragic car accident. Elachi revealed the heartbreaking news during her sonโs requiem mass held on Friday, March 28.
Speaking emotionally at the service, Elachi explained how the accident happened and how her family has been affected by the loss.
How the Accident Happened
Elachi shared that her son had left their home on the night of the accident at around 10:00 pm. He had been asked to run a short errand. After completing the task, he was driving back home when his car experienced a tyre burst.
The MP explained that during the incident, Murakana tried to use the emergency brakes to stop the vehicle. Unfortunately, this caused the car to skid out of control. The sudden movement of the car resulted in serious internal injuries, including severe brain trauma.
“He was in bed by 10:30 pm. He was called to run an errand, and he quickly went to help. On his way back home, the car tyre burst. Young people donโt know that when a tyre bursts, you should not use emergency brakes. When you do, the car will skid,” Elachi said.
“That is what happened to him. He tried to brake, the car skidded, and in the process, his brain moved in the head. That is what led to his death,” she added.
Hospitalisation and ICU Battle
Following the accident, Murakana was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Doctors tried their best to save him, but he sadly passed away while receiving treatment.
Elachi described the pain of losing a child, saying it is one of the hardest experiences any parent can face. She also thanked friends, family, and colleagues who stood by her family during the difficult period.
A Message to Parents and Young People
During the requiem mass, the MP used the moment to advise young drivers to stay calm when driving and to avoid panic when their vehicles develop mechanical issues, such as tyre bursts.
“I want to tell young drivers, if your tyre bursts while driving, donโt panic. Donโt touch the emergency brakes. Instead, hold the steering wheel firmly and control the car until it stops,” she advised.
She also urged parents to always pray for their children, noting that young people today are facing many challenges and pressures.
“Parents, let us pray for our children. Many young people are going through difficult times. Prayer sustains us. Before you leave the house, remember to say a prayer and ask God to protect you,” she added.
Remembering Elvis Murakana
Elvis Murakana was remembered as a humble, kind, and responsible young man who loved his family and his church, Holy Trinity. Elachi noted that he never liked to be identified by her political title and lived a simple, grounded life.
“He loved this church. Even when I come here, I come as a mother, not as an MP,” she said.
The family continues to receive support and condolences from friends, political leaders, and Kenyans across the country.
