Bad Start to 2025: Police Officer Run Over While Aiding Stranded TukTuk Driver

Thika: A tragic road accident this morning resulted in the death of a police officer and left a tuk-tuk driver severely injured.

The incident took place around 2:51 am on the Nairobi-Thika Superhighway near Del Monte.

    Police Officer’s Death on Duty

According to a report filed at Kirwara Police Station (OB No. 10/01/01/2025) and shared with Gossipa2z.com, the officer was Corporal James Mangโ€™ulia Mutunga from the NCTPU Sector 10 Headquarters.

Corporal Mangโ€™ulia, along with another officer, was attending to a broken-down tuk-tuk when a speeding Toyota Corolla NZE, driven by a 54-year-old man, swerved off the road and struck both the officer and the tuk-tuk driver, pushing them about 20 meters from the scene.

Initial reports suggest speeding may have contributed to the accident.
