Backlash Mounts as MP Osoro Demands Kenyans ‘Respect’ President Ruto
South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro faced criticism after seemingly implying that Generation Z should show respect to President William Ruto due to his societal position.
On his X account, Osoro, a strong supporter of Ruto, criticized young Kenyans for what he viewed as disrespectful behavior towards the President, urging for more decorum in how they express their opinions about him.
Osoro questioned why a 20-year-old would address the President as if they were peers, suggesting that such casual behavior contradicted the serious issues they claim to stand for.
“We should focus more on MORALITY lessons in our homes, churches, and schools. You can disagree with a President, but can’t you at least address him by his office? Yaani,at 20, unaona rais kama rika yako juu ya kizungu?Any difference with what you claim to fight against?” he wrote.
His complaints were met with widespread mockery and scorn from Kenyans, who dismissed him and reaffirmed their disrespectful attitude towards the President.
Activist Kasmuel Mcoure, possibly the target of Osoro’s tweet, responded as well, emphasizing that ordinary Kenyans deserve the same respect demanded by their leaders.
“Sasa unataka kulia? Mkiiba pesa yetu na kutuua huwa mnatuheshimu? Msisahau nyinyi ni wajumbe tu. Ghasia!” he wrote.
Someone else said, “These children learn from you. When you abuse each other during campaigns and fight in front of them what lessons are you teaching them? They are learning from the best…Mujiangalie before you pass blame. Nyani haoni?”

On her part, Charity Nzomo said, “Look at the America you like to benchmark with. President Biden is insulted daily even by top TV hosts. Trump is insulted daily on prime-time television. Ruto is not a monarch, and we are not in the 1800s! If the heat is too much, get out of the kitchen!”
To earn greater respect, fellow Kenyans advised the MP to demonstrate respect towards his fellow citizens, noting that the President would naturally receive more respect if he set an example of respectful behavior towards his countrymen.
“When you steal and plunder, do you respect us? When you pass punitive laws, do you respect us? When you overtax poor Kenyans, do you respect us? When you divert public money into your accounts do you respect us? When you kill demonstrators, do you respect us? Respect is two-way My Fren’!” Sam Nzioki said.
And when someone responded with, “The least we can agree is Ruto aende. An office leader should be differentiated from an office bearer if you don’t know then you’ll never know….” Osoro was quick to correct them, brutishly.
He retorted, “He is here till 2027. Mark this…don’t waste your breath and time. Tumewaruhusu sana mkadhani you can push anything…”
During the intense anti-government protests, bold Kenyan citizens directly confronted the President, using derogatory language and even composing mocking songs that openly challenged his authority.
