Babu Owino, Opiyo Wandayi Crowned Best MP & CS in New Rankings- Full List
Friday night was a big night for Kenyan leaders as the Politrack Africa Star Leaders Awards honoured top performers in governance and public service.
The colourful event celebrated leaders from the Senate, National Assembly, Cabinet, and county governments for their excellent work and service to the people.
Babu Owino Named Best MP
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino took home the award for Best Member of Parliament (MP), ranking first among all MPs in the country.
Mavoko MP Patrick Makau secured the third position, while Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, was ranked fourth in Nairobi and 17th nationwide.
Jalang’o thanked his supporters and promised to work harder.
“Not where we want to be but a step in the right direction. Pole pole tutafika,” he posted on social media.
Former MP and current Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geofrey Ruku was also recognised, ranking fourth during his time as MP.
Other MPs who received awards include:
- Adan Keynan (Eldas)
- Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri)
- Stephen Mule (Matungulu)
Narok Governor Named Best Governor
Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu was crowned the Best Governor overall.
He was followed by:
- Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay) – 2nd place
- Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamed (Wajir) and Ann Waiguru (Kirinyaga) – tied at 3rd place
Other governors recognised were:
- Amos Nyaribo (Nyamira)
- Jonathan Bii (Uasin Gishu)
- Mohamed Adan Khalif (Mandera)
Best Senator Award
Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda received the award for Best Senator.
Second place went to Eddie Oketch (Migori), while Richard Onyonka (Kisii) came third.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ranked fifth.
Nairobi County Chief Officer Award
Nairobi County did not win best governor or senator but secured the award for Best Chief Officer.
Geoffrey Mosiria, Chief Officer for Environment, was recognised for his excellent service.

- Julius Bitok was named Best Principal Secretary (PS) for his work at Immigration and Citizen Services.
- Alex Wachira (2nd place)
- Mary Muthoni (3rd place)
In the Cabinet category:
- Opiyo Wandayi won Best Cabinet Secretary (CS)
- Rebecca Miano (Tourism) – 2nd place
- Eric Mugaa (Water) – 3rd place
- Alice Wahome (Lands) – 4th place
- Ali Hassan Joho (Mining) – 5th place
