Babu Owino Fires Back at Museveni’s Anarchy Accusations

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Tuesday hit back at Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni after accusing him of working with Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine to cause anarchy in Uganda.

In a statement, the vocal legislator clarified that his association with Bobi Wine was meant to save Africans from the shackles of oppressive leadership.

Owino further noted that it was the responsibility of every African leader to find solutions to the current challenges facing their countries.

According to the lawmaker, having grown up in poverty, he understood the day-to-day challenges faced by the electorate thus the quest for proper leadership.

“As Babu Owino, I stand for a democratic society where a child in Kenya will receive proper medication, and education and will equally get a job,” Babu Owino noted.

“Equally a child in Uganda should receive the same treatment as a child in Kenya,” he added.

The MP noted that he would continue to champion proper leadership regardless of the criticism.

The lawmaker, however, commended Uganda’s Head of State for supporting Raila Odinga’s African Union Commission chairperson bid.

The legislator’s sentiments come hours after Museveni accused him of a hand in the recent anti-government protests witnessed in Uganda.

Museveni, while addressing delegates during the launch of Odinga’s AU Commission Chairperson bid in Nairobi, revealed the MP was among those working with Bobi Wine to oppose his administration.

“There are some individuals in Raila’s group whom I don’t think know what they are doing,” Museveni commented.

“You know I am a consumer of intelligence reports and every time I see Babu. I have never chosen him but I saw him dealing with an anti Ugandan group so I chose him.”
