Babu Owino Claims Ruto-Gachagua Rift a Strategic Ploy to Win Mt. Kenya Sympathy

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino asserts that the supposed discord between President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua is a strategic maneuver to garner sympathy from Mt. Kenya residents.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, the opposition MP dismissed the alleged rivalry between the two leaders as a “games and gimmicks” tactic designed to deceive Kenyans who have lost faith in their leadership.

Owino suggested that the President and his deputy plan to maintain this facade until the next general election, eventually reconciling to win back voters for re-election.

“There is no fight here; these are games and gimmicks. I urge Kenyans to remember that these individuals will collaborate. As Babu Owino, your son-in-law, I warn Kikuyus to be wary of these two musketeers,” he cautioned.

“These individuals are deceiving you and will collaborate again in the future. The alleged conflict is a ploy to rally you behind one person, only to later redirect your support to the other, who is poised to betray you.”

Owino claimed the strategy involves President Ruto appearing to distance himself from DP Gachagua, prompting the latter to isolate himself to garner sympathy from his diminishing base.

The Mt. Kenya region will then ostensibly rally behind DP Gachagua, driven by the perception that their own has been sidelined.

Owino predicted that DP Gachagua would regain the Central region’s support before reconciling with President Ruto, thereby uniting their supporters for another presidential bid.

“These leaders have lost favor nationwide, especially in the Central region, where they promised prosperity but delivered misery. The people of Mt. Kenya are currently suffering,” Owino stated.

“To reunite the region, they are using a sympathy strategy where the President pretends to oppose his deputy. This agreed-upon tactic aims to rally Mt. Kenya residents behind Gachagua, framing him as a victim to regain their support since both leaders have lost credibility.”

Owino added: “Eventually, Mt. Kenya residents will rally behind Gachagua, who will then realign them with Ruto, claiming reconciliation and peace. This pretense is to secure Mt. Kenya’s support.”

He urged the Central region not to fall for the fake rivalry, encouraging them to join the opposition, which he claims genuinely has their best interests at heart.

“These leaders aim to destroy you, not help you. Join our side and let’s confront them together,” he urged.
