Azimio MPs Vow To Paralyze Parliament Business If Sabina Chege Continues Holding Deputy Whip Seat
Opposition MPs are now threatening to paralyze House business next week if changes to remove Deputy Minority Whip Sabina Chege are not affected.
An agitated Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi hit out at the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula for frustrating the Minority side in the House.
He accused Speaker Wetangula of taking them in circles and refusing to communicate the changes five months after the Azimio coalition made the decision.
“If the court order issued on October 19 is not effected by the Speaker and Mwenje is allowed to carry out his duty then there will be no business in the House of Parliament on Thursday when the House resumes sittings,” said Wandayi in a press conference at Parliament buildings.

He added: “This has to stop in one way or the other. We are being taken around in circles. Meanwhile, those who went to court on this matter are now running around to seek further orders to stop the change. You don’t have to be a lawyer to know what games are being played.”
Wandayi lamented that as of now the minority cannot transact their business properly as Sabina Chege is not working for them claiming that she is in office being paid for work she is not doing.
The position was to be taken by Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje and a court in Kiambu last Monday threw out a case that had been lodged to oppose Sabina’s removal.
The minority has been up in arms with the Speaker over his reluctance to effect the changes, and they at one point even threatened to bring a motion of no confidence against the Speaker.
