Azimio Leaders Say Raila Must Be Consulted On Reconstruction Of IEBC
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leaders now say reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) must be done in consultation with their party boss Raila Odinga as earlier agreed between him and President William Ruto.
Speaking on Saturday in Kitui during a funeral service of his brother-in-law Willy Muasya, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who was hosting his Azimio co-principal leader Mr. Odinga, said Parliament should prioritize the reconstitution of the electoral body and carry out the task as had earlier been agreed on.
Mr. Odinga assured the gathering of unity of the coalition saying individual parties are all building towards making the coalition stronger.
“Hakuna kulegeza kamba…Bunge ikianza next week, prioritize mambo ya IEBC…hakuna vile Kenya Kwanza itaruhusiwa kunominate commissioners pekee yao, na tulisema Raila na Ruto wakubaliane ni nani atakuwa Chairman wa IEBC baada ya huyu Chebukati kuondoka,” Kalonzo said.

Members of Parliament are expected to debate the contents of the national dialogue committee when they resume work from recess next week.
The NADCO report laid down a framework for the recruitment of the IEBC team.
At the same time, Azimio leaders have reaffirmed the party’s unity and readiness to seize power in the 2027 general elections.
“Sisi tuko pamoja…eti ohh Kalonzo ni candidate, Baba lazima asimame…tutakubaliana…kama Kalonzo yuko candidate kwani iko mambo gani? Kalonzo ameniunga mkono, mimi ata naweza kumuunga mkono…mimi nimeenda Marekani naskia eti ooh Baba while you were away…bado muda tutakubaliana….Eugene anataka, Wajackoya anataka, Martha Karua anataka,” Mr. Odinga said.
