Athi River Homes Demolished Hours After Ruto’s Order

Multiple residences in Athi River were demolished on Friday evening in response to President William Ruto’s orders regarding East Africa Portland Cement Company (EAPCC) land confiscation.

As a result of the President’s order, several mansions were demolished by bulldozers, compelling their owners to seek alternative housing.

Notably, some of the residences were still being built.

In videos accessed by PoliticalPulseChat, some residents were captured salvaging the remnants of the demolitions, while others relocated their valuable domestic items to other locations.

Some residents, including former Tusker Project Fame contestant Alvan Gatitu aka Alvan Love, bemoaned and condemned the President’s order, noting that many families were left out in the weather during the demolitions.

Alvan Love further complained that the victims were being unjustly punished because they purchased the contested land without prior knowledge.

The comedian also shared a message sent by the chairman who allegedly sold the residents the land to their Whatsapp group.

“Hello members, my hearty felt concerns to those affected. It was really inhuman, we were messed up by our lawyer, but soon things will be okay. We have held up a high-profile consultative meeting.

“Our able governor Her Excellency Wavinya Ndeti has talked with the concerned parties and top national administrators and demolitions have stopped,” read the message in part.

Ruto ordered that the seized land be recovered and transferred to the Export Processing Zones (EPZ) in Athi River following a court ruling that found the landowners culpable of trespassing.

“I have given clear instructions to the management here that all speculators, people who have held titles to pieces of land for 10, 15, 20, 30 years without developing them, should be revoked so that we can give it to people who want to use this facility,” the Head of State directed.
