All Saints Cathedral Provost Raises Concerns: “Politicians Suspected in Shakahola Massacre”

The provost of All Saints Cathedral, Dr. Sammy Wainaina, claims that the Shakahola massacre in Kilifi County, where over 200 bodies of victims of a suspected religious cult have been exhumed, may have ties to some of the country’s politicians.

Wednesday on Citizen TV’s JKLive show, the outspoken minister demanded a thorough investigation into the deaths, stating that it would not be surprising if some politicians were behind the shocking tragedy.

According to the Provost, it is puzzling that the government was unaware of the activities without raising suspicions.

“An investigation is necessary, but I am not surprised that politicians were involved. How is it possible to bury almost a thousand people without the government’s knowledge? “There are many bad apples in government, but there are also bad apples in the church,” implied Wainaina.

He recalled his previous appearance on JKLive, during which he criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration for focusing more on prayer than on providing Kenyans with services.

With the unfolding of the Shakahola cult saga, the ACK church leader’s warning to President William Ruto’s government to establish boundaries between religion and governance has come to pass, according to the ACK church leader at the time.

He describes the current situation in Kilifi as a ‘political cult’ linked to a religious cult’ that is punishing Kenyans.

“I did say that political cultism exists when the leaders of the cult are politicians and no one can question them. “When you have pastors or religious leaders and a cultic government alongside religious cultism, that is poisonous and dangerous for the people,” the clergyman said.

“At the time, I did not know about Shakahola, but I did warn the government that they would create many cults in the name of people exploiting others…” and it has occurred.”

The current death toll in Kilifi is 235, and over 600 people are still missing.

During his last appearance on the Show, Wainaina criticized the government for holding numerous inauthentic prayer rallies, arguing that Kenyans need government services, not prayers.
