Alice Wahome’s Net Worth Surges to Ksh327 Million
Alice Wahome, nominated as Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development, has announced a notable rise in her net worth to Ksh327 million.
In 2022, Wahome reported her net worth as Ksh218 million. She now indicates an increase of Ksh109 million over the past 21 months.
This announcement comes as Wahome is being reviewed by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, led by Speaker Moses Wetangula, who has promised a thorough vetting process.
Wahome attributes the increase in her wealth to the rise in her property’s value. In response to Speaker Wetangula’s inquiry, she mentioned, “It’s mainly the appreciation of properties.”
She elaborated, “The value of my properties has gone up,” and added, “One tenant who had previously delayed payment made a substantial payment of about Ksh14 million in March.”
Wahome, who previously served as the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation under President William Ruto, credited her wealth accumulation to joint assets with her husband in 2022.

During her testimony before the committee in October 2022, Wahome stated that her income sources include her parliamentary salary, rental income, and a stipend from her law firm.
She had reported, “My net worth of Ksh218 million includes the value of jointly owned properties with my husband, which are family assets.” She explained her income sources: “Up until September, I earned a parliamentary salary and practiced law intermittently due to parliamentary demands.”
Despite her substantial net worth, Wahome faced challenges with rental income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “I receive about Ksh100,000 in fuel allowance from my firm and generally earn around Ksh500,000 monthly from my properties. However, due to the pandemic, I currently rely on the Ksh100,000 allowance and my MP salary,” she noted.
Wahome’s political career began with her election as the Member of Parliament for Kandara Constituency in March 2013. She was re-elected in 2017 and 2022 before resigning to join the cabinet.
The vetting process for Cabinet Secretary nominees is essential to ensure candidates uphold the integrity and capability required for such key roles.
