Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi warned Silas Jakakimba, a former assistant to ODM leader Raila Odinga, not to run for the Suba North parliamentary seat in 2027.

Who backed Silas Jakakimba?

On Sunday, May 5, Jakakimba welcomed a group from the Kakiimba community, who officially supported his intention to challenge MP Millie Odhiambo for her seat.

Jakakimba expressed gratitude to the elders for allowing him to campaign throughout the constituency for votes.

“My Kodondo Residence hosted my Parents, Elders, children, and young people from the Kakiimba Community as they entrusted my goals to The Lord. This serious prayer session also gave me the direct permission and blessings to engage with every clan and community in Mfangano Island, Rusinga Island, Kasgunga, Gembe, and Lambwe, as we discuss my plans with all Suba North residents to advance the area,” said Jakakimba.

Why Jakakimba might not win against Millie Odhiambo

Reacting to the endorsement, Ahmednasir suggested that Jakakimba would face an easy defeat against Odhiambo.

Ahmednasir believes Jakakimba, a former aide to the ex-prime minister, will suffer unnecessarily if he tries to challenge Odhiambo, whom he called experienced.

“Forget Suba North. Try another place… Hon. Millie Grace Akoth Odhiambo is very tough. You will get hurt unnecessarily!” he said.

Why Jakakimba left the ODM party

Previously reported, Jakakimba made a bold decision in his effort to unseat the Suba North MP in 2027.

During an elaborate ceremony on Tuesday, March 26, the former ODM leader’s aide declared his official membership with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party of Kenya.

Accompanied by the party’s secretary general, Cleophas Malala, Jakakimba stated his change as a clear indication that the ruling party was making strides into Raila’s stronghold in Nyanza.
