Agnes Kalekye Nguna has assumed the role of Managing Director and CEO at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), as announced by Eliud Owalo, the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy.

This significant appointment, effective immediately, signifies a new chapter for KBC under Nguna’s leadership.

Mulei Muia, the Director of Public Communications, confirmed the appointment, emphasizing its three-year tenure.

Before her new role, Nguna served as the Chief Operating Officer at The Star Publications and held the position of Chairperson at the Media Owners Association.

With her extensive experience and leadership acumen, Nguna steps into this pivotal role, succeeding Paul Macharia, who served as Acting MD since December 19 temporarily.

Macharia’s interim tenure followed the dismissal of his predecessor, Samuel Maina, who faced allegations regarding a financial commitment to British broadcaster Channel 2 Group amounting to $5 billion (Ksh.769.5 billion).

Nguna’s appointment marks a strategic transition aimed at fostering stability and innovation within KBC.
