Kenya Ranked Among Top 30 Most Dangerous Nations in 2023

In 2023, Insider’s research placed Kenya on the list of the world’s 30 most Dangerous nations.

The nation secured the 25th spot on the worldwide ranking, just a couple of positions lower than South Sudan, a country that has been caught in a prolonged period of civil conflict.

The process of compilation included evaluating every nation’s position by considering their performance in the most recent Global Peace Index, the Global Terrorism Index, and the mean homicide rate.

Kenya held a significant position on the terrorism index at 20th place, while it secured the 34th rank on the global peace index.

As reported by Insider, Kenya’s position in the top 30 countries had a ranking of 117, showcasing a comparatively lower per capita homicide rate than most others.

โ€œAl-Shabaab is a terrorist group based in Kenya and Somalia, and terrorist deaths because of attacks by Al-Shabaab increased in Kenya, even though most attacks were in Somalia,โ€ the data shows explaining why Kenya was ranked so high.

Kenya’s position on the list was higher than only the Democratic Republic of Congo, which was rated as the second most perilous nation globally, following Nigeria.

Other East African nations included in the list were Burundi (28) and South Sudan (27).

Notably, African nations held a significant presence in the upper tier of the ranking, securing 16 positions within the top 30. Among these, Mali secured the third spot, while Somalia was recognized as the fifth most perilous nation globally, primarily due to the menacing presence of Al Shabaab.

This occurs while Kenya strengthens its strategy to combat terrorism and protect the country from the dangers posed by terrorism and extremism.

Significantly, Kenyan military forces are presently engaged in operations within the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to reestablish harmony. Likewise, Kenya has forged a deal to send law enforcement personnel to Haiti, to reinstate order in a nation currently held in the grip of criminal groups.

Ironically, Haiti did not feature in the top 30 list.
The top 30 include op thirty include; Nigeria, DRC, Mali, Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, Colombia, Chad, Yemen and Russia, Pakistan, Niger, Central African Republic, Myanmar, Cameroon, Philipines, Syria, Venezuela, Ethiopia, Turkey, Mexico, Togo, Iran, India, Kenya, Mozambique, South Sudan, Burundi, Burkina Faso, South Africa
