Ruto Excludes CSs from State House Summit

On Tuesday, August 1, President William Ruto barred cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries, and directors of parastatals who arrived late to the performance contract signing event at State House, Nairobi.

President Ruto, while chiding the Cabinet members, refuted the claim made by some Cabinet Secretaries that they were delayed by traffic.

Ruto also cautioned that the performance contracts are not cosmetic, stating that he expects no excuses from any member of his Cabinet.

“For those who arrived late who are Executive members. You will be expected to provide a documented explanation. The claim of traffic is inconsistent.

Ruto told the Cabinet Secretaries who were tardy to his meeting, “If you cannot keep time with your employer, you have, in essence, fired yourself.”

The Head of State was also astonished that some of his Cabinet Secretaries knew so little about their dockets and were a national embarrassment.

“No one here desires to read. If I know more about your Ministry than you do, you should not be a part of this. Ruto questioned, “Why are you a Cabinet Secretary if you don’t understand your job?”

The Deputy President of Botswana, Rigathi Gachagua, stated that several Cabinet members had disobeyed the president’s directives regarding punctuality and foreign travel to the point of disobedience.

He clarified that some Cabinet Secretaries were utilizing their proximity to the President as a form of folic protection.

“Today is a dreary day. I am unable to comprehend why a Cabinet Secretary would appear late to an event presided over by the Head of State.

“What we have seen today must come to a close. “It makes no difference if the President was your friend during political campaigns,” warned Gachagua.

The Vice President sounded the alarm, revealing that the President had previously gotten angry when he was unable to conduct a Cabinet meeting because more than seven Cabinet Secretaries were absent.

“You are not required to accept every invitation to travel abroad. You are to fault because you compelled the President to limit your international travel.

“Some Cabinet Secretaries even alter their attire at the airport before promptly boarding a second flight to another country. “Ladies and Gentlemen, we cannot operate in this manner,” warned Gachagua.
