Exclusive: CCTV Exposes DCI Raid at Uhuru Son’s Home

CCTV footage has disclosed new information about the raid at the home of Jomo Kenyatta, the eldest son of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, in Karen, Nairobi County.

Friday, July 21, at 2:26 pm, surveillance footage documented a Subaru Forester with South Sudanese license plates arriving at Jomo’s residence. It was believed that the vehicle was driven by DCI operatives.

According to the video, the vehicle was halted on the side of the road for a few minutes before Jomo’s security personnel approached it to inquire about its occupants’ intentions.

After a brief conversation, Jomo’s security personnel returned to the gate, where they were followed by the Subaru driver, who exited the vehicle.

The footage captured the driver, armed with a notebook, reading to the security detail the number of Uhuru’s family members and associates with registered firearms.

According to reports, the officers sought 28 weapons from Uhuru’s son and other family members. However, the chauffeur did not reveal why the firearms were to be confiscated.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts by the officers to gain access to Jomo’s residence, the detectives demanded that the gun owners turn over their weapons to the Karen Police Station.

The impasse continued until minutes after 7 p.m. when Uhuru’s three-vehicle convoy arrived at the residence. Minutes before Uhuru’s arrival, the officers had decided to depart the premises.

An officer with knowledge of the situation disclosed that, to avoid a confrontation with the former president, the detectives left the premises. In addition, the officers used a vehicle with foreign license plates to conceal the covert team’s identity.

Instead of confronting him directly, Uhuru accused the State of harassing his family at home.

“If I am the issue, simply come for me. My silence is not indicative of dread. Directly approach me. Why should I involve my mother and son in whatever is occurring? Am I committing a crime by associating with Raila?” He questioned.

However, Interior CS Kithure Kindiki confirmed that the assault on Jomo’s home was conducted to determine if weapons, including firearms, were used to fuel violence during the Azimio la Umoja mass demonstrations.

In addition, the police wished to determine whether the aforementioned firearms were supplied by a vast network of civilian gun owners and leaders of well-known criminal organizations.
