    Digital Strategist Pauline Njoroge Detained

Pauline Njoroge, the Jubilee Party’s Deputy Organising Secretary, was reportedly detained by police while visiting Mombasa County.

On Saturday, July 22, Azimio La Umoja claimed that Ngoroge was apprehended in the company of her companions, and her current location is unknown.

GossipA2Z’s attempts to contact Jubilee party officials and Njoroge for comment were unsuccessful as they did not respond to texts or phone calls.

“Pauline Njoroge was arrested by Watamu DCI officers,” alleged Ndegwa Njiru, a lawyer who has represented politicians from Azimio in court.

According to reports, she is being questioned by police regarding several tweets she posted on her social media profiles.

Njoroge had shared excerpts from her tour of Mombasa hours before her arrest.

Njoroge, a ferocious critic of the Kenya Kwanza government, has consistently attacked President William Ruto’s leadership, including the dissemination of inside information to her social media followers.

The police have recently arrested several individuals, including the Jubilee representative. Others include Paul Ongili aka Babu Owino, a member of parliament for Embakasi East who was accused of subversion.

Babu was detained along with other Azimio-affiliated leaders and officials days before the first Azimio coalition three-day demonstrations.

The lawmaker was released on parole of Ksh100,000 in cash or Ksh200,000 in bond on Friday, July 21.

Politicians from Azimio have accused the government of using the police to arbitrarily detain them. Some individuals complained that plainclothes officers were following them with the intent to apprehend them.

On Saturday, July 22, MCAs allied with Azimio complained that police officers were impersonating newspaper vendors to arrest them.

“Nairobi City County MCAs aligned with the Azimio have been the biggest victims of the hunt by security-forces-turned-thugs who now roam the streets of Nairobi posing as journalists, newspaper vendors, photographers, or hawkers to kidnap and torture MCAs,” according to a portion of their statement.
