Ruto Revolutionizes Govt Agency Designed by Uhuru
President William Ruto dismissed five Water Sector Trust Fund board members on Friday, July 21.
Ruto revoked the appointments of Mary Wambui, Mbatia Kimani, Kevin Opiyo, Musa Ndeto, and Fred Odhiambo in a Gazette notice.
The five were appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta on July 5, 2022, nearly two months before his retirement.
The incumbent Head of State, therefore, appointed Josephine Erigae, Lucas Chepkitony, Maryan Mohamed, and Andrew Mbithi to the board of trustees.
The four appointees will begin their two-year terms on July 21, 2023, and conclude on July 4, 2025.
Ruto did not provide justifications for the alterations beyond stating that the reorganization was consistent with the authority vested in him by the promulgated 2010 Constitution.
The Water Fund is mandated to provide county governments with funding for water and sanitation programs.

The conditional and unconditional grants target initiatives in the country’s marginalized regions.
The agency’s website states, “We assist communities in conserving their catchment areas and managing and protecting the water resources within their sub-catchments.”
Former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Ngirici was affirmed as the chairperson of Kenya Seed Company Limited in other departmental changes.
Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Miothika Linturi stated that Ngirici was elected during a board meeting and subsequently assumed the position.
Alongside Ngirici, Symon Cherogony, Edwin Kipchirchir, Bernard Wambwa, and Job Kibagendi will serve on the board.
