Ken Block’s daughter breaks her silence on her father’s passing with a heartfelt tribute.
Lia Block, the 16-year-old daughter of Top Gear star Ken Block, took to Instagram to mourn her famous father, whom she referred to as her “best friend.”
The eldest daughter Lia Block of rally driver Ken Block, issued a heartfelt statement on Instagram following her father’s tragic death earlier this week.
The former Top Gear star died in a snowmobile accident at the age of 55.
Honnigan Racing Division, Block’s devastated team, conveyed the news of his passing on Monday, stating ‘he will be tremendously missed’.
“It is with tremendous regret that we can report that Ken Block died in a snowmobile accident today,” a message on Instagram said.
“Ken was a pioneer, a visionary, and an icon. Most significantly, he is a parent and spouse. He will be sorely missed. Please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.”
Ken’s 16-year-old daughter Lia came to Instagram to memorialize her famous father, whom she considered her “best friend,” just days after his terrible death.
“I didn’t simply lose my father yesterday; I lost my best friend,” Lia said in a heartfelt tribute.
“He was my entire universe and the only person I ever looked up to. He was always there to support me no matter what I did.
“I can’t believe how quickly he was gone from us all. No words can convey how great my father was; he lived so many lives, did more in 55 years than most people could in ten lifetimes, and lived his life to the fullest every single day.”
“He always did what he loved no matter what, right up to the last second, and was always there for me, my siblings, and my mom whenever we did what we liked,” Lia continued. He never said no to something we wanted to try, never forced us to enjoy what he liked, and always left the door open for us to explore.
“Ken never passed up an opportunity to help us grow as people; he always said he wanted us to be even more amazing, kind, happy, and unselfish than he and my mother. He was always willing to help others and open doors for others. I can only hope to do half of what he did.”
Ken’s heartbroken daughter concluded her moving message by writing: “I grew up knowing in the back of my mind that I want to be just like my father. He was one of the most incredible guys on the planet, not to mention the best father I could have asked for.
“Every day, I will work hard to make you proud. Kenny, I adore you to the moon and back.”
Block tweeted in favor of his 16-year-old kids’ racing show just hours before his terrible demise.
“The fourth and last episode of my 16-year-old daughter Lia buying, pulling down, rebuilding, and now driving her ’85 Audi Ur Quattro will be live on my YouTube channel at 8 am PST tomorrow,” he tweeted.
“Will her Audi ever do a donut? Will it fail in the attempt? Watch to find out.”
Following his unfortunate death, the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, who responded to the crash scene, stated Block a short time later.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Ken was riding on a steep slope when his snowmobile flipped over and landed on top of him.
“On January 2, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m., the Wasatch County 911 Centre received a call reporting a snowmobile collision in the Mill Hollow area,” the report stated.
“Search and Rescue, as well as Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, Utah State Parks, and the US Forest Service responded. Kenneth Block, a 55-year-old male from Park City, Utah, was riding a snowmobile down a steep slope when it overturned and landed on top of him.
“He died at the spot as a result of his injuries incurred in the collision. Mr. Block was cycling with a group but was riding alone at the time of the accident. The official cause of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.”
Block leaves behind his wife Lucy and three children.
In 2005, the late action sports celebrity began racing in his home country of the United States, originally in the Rally America series.
