Key Witness: Obado Suspected Son’s Affair with Sharon Otieno

The murder trial of Sharon Otieno against former Migori Governor Okoth Obado continued before Justice Cecilia Githua on Thursday.

Former Kanyidoto Ward County Assembly Member Lawrence Mula returned to the podium and stated that Obado suspected that the former Rongo University student was also dating one of his sons named Dan.

Mula stated, “He (Obado) told me that he believed Sharon may have met Dan and had affairs with him; in Dholou, it is taboo to share a woman with your son or father.”

He testified in court on Wednesday that the former Governor had no motive to murder Sharon and their unborn child.

Mula stated under cross-examination that Obado told his family that he had impregnated Sharon and was anticipating a child with her.

Sharon had consented to conduct a DNA test after the birth of the child, despite Obado’s uncertainty regarding paternity.

“Everything was in order. Mula testified at the time, “I don’t see why Obado would want to kill based on how things transpired and his support for Sharon.”

Sharon sent a photo of her pregnant belly to one of Obado’s sons named Dan via WhatsApp and requested that he transmit it to his mother.

“Obado had already discussed Sharon with his wife,” the court was told.

According to Mula’s testimony on Wednesday, Sharon and Dan were Facebook acquaintances.

Following Mula’s testimony on Thursday, Sharon’s mother, Melinda Ouma, also took the stand.

Melinda informed the court that she disapproved of Sharon’s relationship with Obado, stating, “As a mother, I informed her that I do not like relationships with politicians.”

She added that Obado did not recognize Sharon’s pregnancy and that Sharon was allegedly offered Ksh 30,000 to abort it, but she refused.
