Azimio Exposes OSU’s Alleged ‘Trained Killer Squad’ in Protester Deaths

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition has revealed the identity of an alleged ‘killer squad’ dubbed Operation Support Unit (OSU), which they claim the government deployed to harm them and protesters.

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka stated during a press conference held on Tuesday at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation that the party is aware of the identities and methods of operation of the squad members.

“We are aware that its members wear civilian attire and travel in groups of five individuals from the same ethnic group,” said Kalonzo.

They are heavily armed with lethal armaments and have superior logistics, communications, and transportation infrastructure.

In addition, the Wiper party leader asserted that OSU was responsible for the fatalities reported during last week’s demonstrations and that they fired from multiple Subaru vehicles and a Toyota Succeed.

“This is the group that murdered individuals in Kamukunji, Mlolongo, and Jogoo Road last week. “They fired at people from unmarked green, black, grey, silver, red, and white Subaru vehicles, as well as one grey Toyota Succeed,” he explained.

“All of these vehicles are located at the traffic police headquarters close to Kenyatta Hospital, the Anti-Terror Police Unit, and the Nairobi Regional headquarters. Their sole mission is to murder or severely injure Azimio leaders and Kenyans protesting against government policies.

However, the coalition asserted that they will continue to fight against the government in protest of the high expense of living and other issues.

They indicated that the demonstrations would begin on Wednesday and end on Friday every week “until the battle is won.”

Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja, said in a statement on Saturday, July 15, that OSU, which he claimed had been disbanded for some time, has been resurrected and that the government is relying on it to transport Azimio leaders.

“OSU, now led by Mr. Zakary Kariuki, was disbanded and its personnel sent home a few years ago. The team is returning. On Wednesday prior. OSU was present in Kamukunji, Jogoo Road, and Mlolongo, firing upon and killing some demonstrators. The primary objective of the OSU is to harm and execute Azimio leaders and demonstrators.”
