Karua Sets Record Straight on Private Ruto Meet

Martha Karua, leader of the Narc Kenya, denied rumors of a secret agreement between President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Tuesday, July 18.

According to a report in the Daily Nation, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Professor Makau Mutua represented Raila in the negotiations.

It was unknown who Ruto’s representative was. However, the individual was reportedly a high-security official.

According to the narrative, Karua opposed the deal and urged her comrades in the Azimio coalition not to accept it.

The leader of Narc Kenya dismissed the allegations as propaganda and disassociated herself from the quote.

“It is unprofessional for your newspaper, Daily Nation, to publish gossip and propaganda by a reporter purporting to quote me without contacting me for confirmation or comment,” she said.

“As a member of the top leadership team at Azimio, I am unaware of any such negotiations involving Makau Mutua or Junet Mohamed.”

She reiterated that the discussions between her leader and Ruto were only taking place through the Bipartisan Committee, which disbanded before the coalition’s protests.

In response, she disclosed that she would send a demand letter to the Kimathi Street-based media organization.

According to sources cited by the Daily Nation from the Kenya Kwanza faction, the government was pursuing a peaceful resolution with Raila, who plans to escalate protests on Wednesday, July 19.

According to reports, the three representatives were tasked with reaching an agreement by September 1.

“Yes, we have contacted Azimio. The nation faces a multitude of insurmountable difficulties. We are speaking with their representatives, according to a representative of Kenya Kwanza.
