Interior CS Kindiki: Azimio demos sponsored by a known source

Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Interior Cabinet Secretary, has warned that the government will deal with the opposition over its call for nationwide demonstrations while accusing former leaders of inciting President William Ruto’s administration by financing anti-government demonstrations.

He stated that the government was fully prepared to deal with criminals who steal, destroy, and murder people while disguising themselves as Kenyans protesting the rising cost of living.

Prof. Kindiki stated during a Sunday service at the Kaanwa Catholic Church in Tharaka Nithi County that although they have forgiven leaders who have mistreated them, they must cease inciting them by financing violence in the country.

“We have pardoned everyone, including those who mistreated us, but they must not provoke us. They did whatever they pleased during their tenure, and no one will seek retribution because we are Christians. However, if they continue to antagonize us, they will live to regret it,” said Prof. Kindiki.

He stated that, in contrast to previous demonstrations, the government is completely prepared to deal ruthlessly with thieves who will come out to steal on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, when the Azimio leaders led by Raila Odinga have called for nationwide protests.

He cautioned that those who violate the law will regret it for the rest of their lives because they will be regarded as terrorists or robbers.

He observed that Azimio leaders were concealing the Constitutional right to hold public meetings while evading the law that prohibits interfering with the rights of another person, such as destroying or stealing property.

“The criminals who steal and injure people in the name of peaceful demonstrations will be treated as terrorists and bandits,” he stated.

Prof. Kindiki stated that a woman perished during the most recent demonstrations because an ambulance attempting to transport her to the hospital was stuck at a roadblock for three hours.

Prof Kindiki was urged by Senator Mwenda Gataya of Tharaka Nithi, Member of Parliament Gitonga Murugara of Tharaka, and Patrick Munene of Chukangambangtombe to deal forcefully with the Azimio protesters.

Murugara stated that they were prepared to confront the Azimio protesters and urged Kenyans to safeguard their property.

He suggested that, in addition to dealing with the protestors, the government should go after the wealthy individuals who are financing the youths who are blocking roads, stealing, and destroying property.

Murugara and Munene lamented the Ruto administration’s court defeats in two crucial cases, the Finance Act of 2023 and the Chief Administrative Secretary, which have halted government initiatives.

Mr. Murugara stated, “The government must work to prevent the loss of such crucial cases, as it is a major setback.” The leaders of Azimio have sworn that the planned demonstrations will continue regardless of government intimidation.
