UDA MP Dekow Proposes Motion to Extend Ruto’s Presidency
Dekow Mohamed Barrow, a representative for the Garissa Township, stated on Tuesday that the Kenya Kwanza MPs will introduce a motion in parliament seeking to extend President William Ruto’s term by one year.
The UDA representative stated in Garissa that they have the required number of votes and will proceed with the assignment in the House.
“As Kenya Kwanza legislators, we can introduce a motion seeking to extend Ruto’s presidency by one year to 2028. This is to make up for the year lost as a result of opposition-organized demonstrations, he explained.
“You are aware that we have the numbers in the home. As you can see, there are 349 of us, and no representative desires to confront an election. Everyone desires to remain there.”

Dekow also urged President Ruto not to allow anyone to intimidate him, stating that his lawmakers will continue to defend his administration outside of parliament.
He sneered at Azimio leader Raila Odinga and his lieutenants, referring to them as a “gang of clowns” and singling out Roots party leader George Wajackoya in particular.
His remarks come less than a day after political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi reminded President William Ruto on Monday that he will have three years and six months left in office by December 2023.

“Dear Ruto: By Christmas, only three and a half years will remain. And you will accomplish nothing. When will you begin employment? Christmas?” He queried.
Ruto was inaugurated in September 2022 after winning the general election in August.
Ngunyi went on to say that the courts were now fueling the rebellion against Ruto.
“The infection of rebellion has become an epidemic fueled by the courts. They eliminated CASs before suspending the Finance Act of 2023. “There is also Raila,” he added.
This comes after the High Court suspended the Finance Act of 2023 indefinitely on Monday, refusing to rescind the freeze imposed on June 30.
The High Court judge Mugure Thande denied Treasury CS Njuguna Ndungu’s request to rescind the suspension, stating that Kenyans could be unfairly subjected to illegal taxes.
This is because Azimio leader Raila Odinga is anticipated to initiate a signature collection campaign to demonstrate Kenyans’ discontent with President William Ruto’s administration.
