Musalia Mudavadi Reveals Talks with Former President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nigeria
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi broke his silence on the May 30 discussions he had with former President Uhuru Kenyatta in Nigeria on Saturday, July 8.
The former leader of the Amani National Congress (ANC) revealed at a funeral in Ikolomani Constituency that their discussion centered on President William Ruto’s ascension to power and the transfer of power at Kasarani Stadium on September 13, 2022.
According to Mudavadi, Uhuru indicated that he turned over power to the victor while wondering why former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was unhappy with the election results.
“Our oppositional brethren continue to complain. I once met Uhuru in Nigeria and again in Bujumbura (in Burundi), where he informed me that he had already transferred power.
“He is the chairman of Azimio, and according to him, he has already transferred the reins of power. Do you believe there was anything improper about his surrender? This is conclusive evidence that he recognized the winner,” he disclosed.
Mudavadi urged the opposition to follow suit and allow Ruto sufficient time to implement his development agenda.

The former vice-prime minister also urged Raila and his troops to support the government in addressing the problems facing Kenyans.
This was the first time Mudavadi had spoken publicly about the widely disseminated photographs from the 30 May meeting.
Uhuru and Mudavadi met in Nigeria on May 30 while attending President Bola Tinabu’s inauguration. Ruto was represented at the event by Mudavadi.
In his official capacity as the leader of the African Union (AU) election observers, the former head of state was invited.
Following the meeting in Nigeria, the former head of state shared photos of the gathering but did not disclose the content of the conversation.
Some of Ruto’s allies contend, contrary to Mudavadi’s account of events, that the former president continues to undermine Ruto’s leadership.
Recent allegations made by digital strategist Dennis Itumbi allege that Uhuru orchestrated the Saba Saba protests. After meeting with Azimio MPs in a private meeting, Uhuru, according to the communications expert, played a central role in planning mass protests in different parts of the country.
