Jubilee Secretary General Kioni Threatens President Ruto with Impeachment Over High Taxes

Saturday, June 17, beleaguered Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni. Threatened to impeach President William Ruto before the end of his five-year term. If he continued to impose high taxes on Kenyans.

Kioni told the media in Kiambu County that Kenyans were already struggling with the high cost of living. And that the proposed Finance Bill 2023 would only exacerbate the problem.

According to the former lawmaker, the continuously rising cost of living harmed numerous businesses. Including those in the Mt Kenya area.

“The living expenses are intolerable. The majority of businesses in Mount Kenya will suffer as a result of the Finance Bill’s taxation provisions.

“We are seeing the level of desperation among Kenyans, and this bill will only make matters worse,” Kioni stated.

The SG warned that he ran the risk of being impeached by Kenyans. If the president and his vice president did not implement measures to cushion Kenyans from the high cost of living.

“If this government is not serving our interests, we can remove it before the end of the five-year term they believe they must serve.

“It is not required that they complete the term. “We can shorten your stay if you are not useful to Kenyans,” Kioni added.

Others from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party also decried the high cost of living.

“The cost of living is intolerable, particularly for women in the Mount Kenya region. We are approaching a point where we will have to tell this government to stop. Our children have been labeled, but they are the same individuals the government referred to as swindlers who were promised a good living.

“The only thing we’ve seen this government do for our youth is to mobilize them to steal sheep from the Northlands farm.” They should be ashamed,” a member of Jubilee stated.

A portion of the Jubilee party announced earlier on Thursday, June 8. Their intention to introduce a bill that would provide grounds for impeaching President William Ruto.

During the announcement, they stated that the bill was prompted by Ruto’s interference in Jubilee Party affairs. And that it was the only way to restore order within the party.

According to the Constitution adopted in 2010, a president can be impeached for violating the Constitution, treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors.
